Look at this sweet newborn session! Alexander is such a sweet baby boy who is perfect from his full head of dark brown hair down to his little toes! I wanted to make sure that I captured every flawless detail of him for mom and dad to reminisce on forever. I can’t stress enough to these families to get their little angels in as soon as possible because they grow up so quickly.

A Simplistic Approach

For this session, mom and dad requested something simple in order to keep the spotlight on Mr. Alexander. I’m such a fan of the earthy color scheme that they went with. You never know if newborns will get fuzzy during a session, but this one slept the entire time. Even when I moved him from position to position. I was lucky enough that he wasn’t too sleepy because he gave me the cutes grin when he was wrapped up in the material. Especially when he was placed in my little wooden basket. The most heartwarming part of the entire session was when mom was holding him close and kissing him on those big cheeks! There’s nothing quite like watching a mother’s love right in front of you, and it never gets old!

Pearland Studio Child Photographer | Charlize Studio Milestone Session

Check out this cutie pie, Charlize! I first just want to say that I am in love with her name. It's so unique and beautiful just like her. Mom and dad requested a fun and girly session to celebrate her being one year old, and that’s exactly what they got. If there’s one thing I am an expert at, that is coming up with sassy and girly sessions. I know that these images will be something that brings the entire family smiles for a lifetime.

Ruffled Bottoms and Sweet Smiles

Mom dressed Charlize up in the sweetest outfits, and it really showed off her bubbly personality.  From the bows, ruffles, and flowers, she was all dolled up for the camera. We couldn’t stop ooing and awing over ever little move that she made because she’s just so adorable. She stole my heart with big brown eyes, and I just know that she has mom and dad wrapped around her little finger. My favorite part of the session is when we placed her in this little pale that I had laying around my studio. She was so curious as to what we were doing, and kept reaching out for momma! I had so much fun laughing during this session, and I hope to see them again!

As a Pearland Studio Child Photographer, I am so blessed to have the opportunity to meet and work with so many sweet little ones!

Houston Outdoor Maternity Photographer | Miranda's Maternity Session

I had a great time capturing Miranda and her oldest daughter for her Maternity Session.  Both of these ladies were as sweet as they are beautiful.  Their smiles were so bright and full of excitement about welcoming a little baby into the family.  Miranda was stunning in the eggplant gown that she chose from our studio wardrobe.  The gown cascaded beautifully over her baby bump.  It was a nice balance of getting dressed up for the special occasion but casual enough for their laid back outdoor session.

Mommy and Me Time

The sun was shining and the trees were gorgeous.  There is something about Houston that draws people here and keeps them here.  Aside from good ol southern hospitality, the trees and basically year round warm weather are high on the list of what makes Houston great.  They definitely made these January Maternity Photos possible.

Miranda and her daughter enjoyed this special day together.  I thought it was so sweet to do a mommy daughter session before welcoming baby brother into the mix.  Her little girl was so sweet and I could not wait to meet their little boy.  Since they booked a baby plan I knew I would not have to wait long to meet him.  I could hardly wait to capture his Newborn Session.

Diaper rashes are no joke, and can be so stressful to deal with. I have found that the best product out there to soothe the annoying pain of a rash is Boudreax’s Butt Paste. This product is a life saver in terms of healing your kiddo’s rash. Putting this paste on your child with help relieve the pain instantly, and completely getting rid of the rash in two days or less.

Eating at the table is something we definitely take for granted before we have kids. Meal time can be such a stressful experience for parents of little ones. The Ingesina Fast Table Chair attached to the edge of a table in a secure, safe, and comfortable way for your kiddo to eat. What to Wear to Your Newborn Session

Having a newborn session is such a fun experience! However, being a mom with a new little one can also be a very stressful time. Our newborns are precious to us, and we don’t want anything to go wrong. As a Houston Newborn Photography artist, I have seen it all, and quite frankly - I expect it! Babies will be babies, and it is totally something that everyone understands. They cry, spit up, etc, and there is nothing wrong with that. My motto is to let the baby be in charge of the session. Although us moms worry about the small things that we literally have no control of, we tend to forget the things that we do have control of, such as our wardrobe! If you have a Houston newborn photography coming up and have totally forgotten to plan your outfit, I am here to help! Here are 6 tips on what to wear to your baby’s session:

Stay Neutral

You will want your photos to stay current, so try to pick out neutral colors. This will ensure that your images won’t get dated. There is nothing worse than looking back at a photo and thinking, “what in the world was I wearing?!”

Be Comfy

You will not regret wearing breathable clothing! The studio can get warm, and you will want to be as comfortable as possible during your newborn session.

Dress it Up

Women, it’s always a good idea to wear a cute flowy dress during the session. Not only will you look dressed up for the session, but dresses that allow for movement will flatter your body and keep you comfortable at the same time.

Sharp but Casual

For all the dads out there, staple v necks and crew neck shirts look super handsome, yet casual for your newborn’s session. Some of my favorite stores that provide affordable men’s clothing is Gap and Old Navy.

Think Simple

If you have other children that will be in your newborn session, dress them in simple and neutral colors. Kids have such cute features, that I think it is important for the focus to be on their cute eyes and smile, rather than the clothes they are wearing. Dressing your kids up in clothing that has different textures can provide cute and playful details in the photos.

Spring time is upon which means baseball is too!  My oldest son Jensen is playing the the Angels this season with the Pearland Little League and my hubby is coaching.  My business also sponsored their team this season so you will see my banner hanging in the outfield on field 5 at the Dad's Club.  I am honored to be able to support their team AND to get to photograph them in action.  This past Saturday was their opening day and it was so fun to cheer them on from the stands!  They have been practicing for several weeks leading up to  their first game on Opening Day so it was great to see them finally use their skills on the field.  Here are some of my favorites images from the day.  To see more from their Opening Day, click HERE to see the full gallery.

Newborn Photography Safety

Your precious newborn arrives, and all you want is to hold them forever. It’s moments like these that make you want to cherish each and every memory your share with your new child. As sweet and as precious as having newborn photos done, it is crucial that safety is the number one priority. Here are 4 rules of thumb that I follow as a Houston Newborn and Baby Photography Studio artist in order to ensure that your newborn is the safest it can be:

Four Rules for Newborn Photography Safety

Have Help On-Hand:

I always have an assistant with me. There will never be a time that the baby is left unattended. This is very important to me, because there are moments where I may have to step away, and the last thing I want is for your kiddo to be alone. My assistants are always very trained and prepared for whatever comes their way.

Vaccinations:

I make it a priority of mine to be current on all of my vaccinations. I want your children to be clear of obtaining a disease that may be harmful or life threatening. If you are interested in seeing my vaccination records, please do not hesitate to ask!

Sanitation:

Sanitation is a must. Not only do I sanitize the props and equipment that is being used, I also keep hand sanitizer all over the studio. On top of that, I make sure to wash my hands throughout the entire session. Your baby deserves to have a germ free environment!

Composites:

I never put babies in unnatural positions unsupported. We all see those adorable photos of a baby propped up on their hands or holding their heads up by themselves. The reality is that newborns simply cannot support themselves yet. Many photos you see me do are composites, which are multiple images put together to create just one photo.

As a Houston Newborn and Baby Photography Studio artist, I believe that keeping your little ones safe is the most important part of the session. The cuteness overload tends to follow shortly after we have a clean and comfy environment for the baby!

Four Ways to Keep Kids Engaged Throughout a Session

As a mom myself and Houston Child Photographer, I know that a kiddos attention can last so long. Read on to learn how to keep your little ones engaged! Family sessions are some of my favorite sessions, because it gives me the opportunity to capture such sweet moments between parents and their children. I love kids, but I realize that getting pictures taken can often be a stressful experience for the families I work with. As a mom, I totally understand the questions and thoughts that go through parents’ minds: “What if my child starts running around like a crazy monkey?” “What if they won’t stop crying?” And once the session starts, “Oh my gosh, what do I do with these kiddos?!” I get it. It’s hard. However, I encourage you to relax, take a few deep breaths, and follow these 4 tips to keep your kids engaged throughout a session:

1. Bribery - Yes, I said that right. Bribing your kiddos with small toys or snacks is a great way to encourage positive behavior. Because of my teaching background, I know that positive reinforcement is a good tactic to help keep your kiddos engaged. My favorites are candy and money. Every time your kiddo follows directions the first time you ask them, give them a sour patch kid. Or better yet, give them a quarter!

2. Relax - It’s easy for us to get stressed and get angry at our kiddos. However, try your best to relax and be care-free. This is my top most rule during a family session. This is the only hour that I will let them be themselves completely (as long as it is safe).

3. Give Breaks - Your kiddos need breaks. Let them shake it out. Let them run it out. Their attention spans are shorter than an adults, so to set unrealistic expectations just isn't fair!

4. Be Fun - Bring something that you all will enjoy to do together. This will help me get candid pictures, and help them to not feel like they have to act/be a certain way for the entire session.

Houston Newborn Studio Photographer | Rosemary June

Rosemary June was a doll for her newborn session.  She is baby number four for this beautiful family.  I had the pleasure of capturing baby number three a couple years ago and was thrilled to have them back in the studio with their latest little blessing.  She was such an angel throughout the whole process.  She was a willing participant in the set and wardrobe changes necessary to capture the different images of the session. A photographer's dream!

Capturing Sweet Memories

Mom, Holly, has become a great friend of mine over the last couple years of photographing their family. I was excited to bring her vision to life.  Sleeping newborn images are to be expected and they are such sweet moments to have as forever images. But my favorite thing is when a sweet little brand new baby gives us a some of their precious awake time during their session.  Rosemary surprised us with a little awake time.  It is funny to see their little personalities emerge early on.

A Feminine Approach

Holly and I had a great time dressing Rosemary up and choosing the different elements and set pieces for Rosemary’s session.  We incorporated creams and blushes throughout and some fun florals, and of course we always had an adorable hat or headband for the little sweet pea.  I loved her pouty top lip and darling cheeks.  It is such a blessing to love what you do and I am so happy that I love working as a Newborn Photographer, capturing beautiful keepsakes for families and making fantastic friends in the process.

Pearland First Birthday Milestone Photographer | Joseph

Look at this little guy! Mom and dad can’t believe that Joseph is already one year old, and I couldn’t think of a more memorable way to celebrate than with a fun photo session with me! I took this cutie pie to one of my favorite parks, and we had a blast! I brought all of my favorite props with me, including blankets, a wooden crate, and big blue balloons to add to the festivities!

Stealing Hearts with His Big Brown Eyes

The camera loves Joseph, and he was just captivating everyone with this big eyes and smile of his. I couldn’t get enough of his joy and happiness playing with his parents. Can we just talk about his outfit for a second? How precious! I fell in love with the red pants and striped hoodie, and it really stood out in the images.

When we finally pulled out all of the balloons, Joseph was so fascinated. I know he was loving all of the attention during his session, and we loved giving it to him. It is always a pleasure to create real memories for these special families, and I hope to see them again in the future for updates as he grows up!

What an absolute heartthrob! It was such a joy being Joseph's Pearland First Birthday Milestone Photographer and capturing these sweet milestone memories.

Houston Newborn and Family Photographer | Studio vs. Lifestyle Sessions

As a Houston newborn and family photographer, I have the pleasure of providing two types of services for my clients: In Studio Sessions and Lifestyle Sessions. These two styles of photography provide totally different outcomes. If you have a session booked in the future, or if you are unsure of what to expect, here are the differences and similarities between in studio and lifestyle sessions:

Lifestyle Sessions

Lifestyle sessions are typically done in home, and include the whole family as the focus of the session. I love lifestyle sessions. They allow for more candid photographs, such as natural smiles, laughter, and play. This is a time for you and your family to go about spending time together in different ways. Meanwhile, I'm in the background capturing your raw emotions. Many activities can be done in the home during a lifestyle session. Such as playing a game, reading books, or even baking cookies! This is a great session if you and your loved ones are wanting to have real life moments documented.

Studio Sessions

In studio sessions, on the other hand, are a bit different. These sessions typically focus on newborn or small children, and tend to be more styled and posed. Working in the studio provides you with intimate photos of your kiddo. Like lifestyle sessions, your child can do what he/she does best...sleeping, playing, or even a cake smash experience. The difference is that this must be prepared in advance, rather than spur-of-the-moment. I love being able to make my client’s vision come true, so I try to prepare the best background and props to fit your preferred style!

Fall 2017 Calendar - No Mini Sessions This Year

I wanted to formally announce that I will NOT be offering Fall Mini Sessions this year.  This will be the first time in 5 years I haven't offered them!  It was a difficult decision for me to make as I have so many clients I love working with each year for mini sessions!  But with the arrival of baby #3, maternity leave, and an already extremely full calendar of sessions, it just wasn't possible.This Fall I will only be offering regular portrait sessions (45-60 min in length and at full 2017 pricing).  If you are interested in booking a session, please contact me ASAP as I have very limited availability remaining in November + December. Houston Family Photographer | Kurian Family

Ah, the Kurian family… These three are some of the most amazing people I have gotten to work with as of yet as a Houston Family Photographer. I have known this gorgeous mommy for many years. And was super excited to photograph her and her sweet loved ones last year.

About this session

These three are definitely what you would call “the picture perfect” family. Every single photo turns out absolutely beautiful (and I mean every single photo)! Momma has become such a great friend of mine. I am just so grateful to see her with her handsome man and their precious daughter. This little one is just  as sweet as can be. Those eyes… that smile… can you say adorable?!

Elizabeth Stone once said, “Making the decision to have a child – it’s momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking outside your body.” This quote reminds me so much of the Kurian family and the love they share with their baby girl. Not only is it pure, but it is raw and it is out in the open for every one to see. I loved being able to document such sweet moments for these amazing people. I can’t wait to work with them again in the future!

Houston Newborn Photographer | Everett

This family is simply stunning and I loved working with them as his Houston Newborn Photographer.  Baby Everett was such a good sport throughout the whole session.  He was such a relaxed baby, so posing him was a dream. After a house full of girls, it was a fun day when a little boy entered the family.  Everett is absolutely precious and adored by the entire family.  His big sisters are smitten with him.  You can tell by the family portrait of everyone together that this little man has brought a lot of love out of everyone and mom and dad could not be more thrilled to add a new member to the crew.

About this session

Mom decorated his room in a nautical theme and brought along his personalized buoy for his session as a prop.  These are a few of my favorite images from last year.  I love that it has his name and birthdate on it, and he looks so cute relaxing in the center.  His chubby cheeks make me smile. He looks like he floats around in his buoy every day.  He is so relaxed and comfortable. It is always an exciting session when I am able to capture a newborn with their eyes open, and Everett brought some excitement to my day during his session.  The image of him with the adorable teddy bear hat and his eyes wide open is priceless.  His expression is too cute.

Houston Newborn Photographer | Elizabeth

I cannot stop looking at these gorgeous newborn portraits we captured of baby Elizabeth!  What a sweet little princess she is!  I was so excited to see this couple again!  They had selected to have their baby plan with me, so I photographed their maternity session a few months ago. I now have absolute pleasure of finally meeting this precious little new addition to their family. There is so much love between this couple. I know they will shower Elizabeth with all the attention and snuggles they can!  I mean, she’s gorgeous! Wouldn’t you?!?

About this session

This baby girl was just so beautiful, and I had so much fun planning out a custom newborn session with many feminine and floral touches.  The session took place in my Pearland and we selected some of my sweetest headbands and bonnets for Elizabeth as she slept so comfortably snuggled.  One of my favorites is Elizabeth atop the shabby chic antiqued box surrounded by pink roses and soft blush peonies.I cannot wait to see Elizabeth and her parents again for her one year session. Knowing how quickly that time will fly by, and I can’t believe this little girl will be standing by then!  I love watching these babies grow up in front of my camera!  And I hope to provide this family with many priceless images for their heirloom albums and gallery wall reflecting the milestone moments of this little one’s life as she grows.

Houston Family Photographer | Emma's First Year

Emma is such a precious little girl.  She was so expressive and excited.  It was a great time capturing her one year photos along with some updated family portraits.  I had the pleasure of photographing this family's maternity and newborn sessions, so I was honored when they contacted me about capturing Emma's one year session.

About this Session

Emma is such a happy, smiley baby.  Her sweet face, big eyes and giant smile made for some adorable pictures.  The big bows and accessories were merely icing on the cake.  Emma made my job as a newborn photographer such a joy!  The images of her in the high chair with the smash cake were just too sweet (see what I did there?).I love how she wanted to share with everyone, including her adorable puppy pal.  They were best buds!

Time to Clean Up!

After getting down and dirty in the smash cake it was time to get cleaned up.  Her bathtub images turned out beautifully.  The bubbles floating behind Emma and the was tub made for a great picture, but more importantly a detail that got Emma excited.  But there is nothing cuter than a happy baby being cheeky.  The images of Emma in the was basin from behind are precious. Their family portraits were a lot of fun too.  This family has so much fun together and the session was filled with laughter.  Their love for one another is beautiful and it shines through the images.

Houston Family Fun | Houston Astros

Looking for something fun to do this summer with the kids? Take them to a Houston Astros baseball game, and it will be an experience that they won’t ever forget! It can be hard for a mom to come up with fun activities to do with the kids during the summer, and we all hate hearing those words “Mom, I’m bored!” all summer long. This isn’t just something that the kids will love to do, but you will be sure to enjoy it as well! I always love going to these games and seeing the little kids wide eyed the entire time and jumping for joy when we get a home run!

Getting Tickets

I would recommend buying tickets soon because single tickets are currently on sale on their website. If you’re really looking for a great deal, I would go on a Wednesday night for dollar hot dogs! This is the perfect way to make memories with the entire family while not breaking the bank. I can’t think of a better way to end the summer before the kids head back to school! Houston Newborn Photographer | Freya

This little lady is Freya—such a lovely name for a lovely, tiny bundle of a girl. Freya is her parents’ first baby, so I wanted her newborn session to be extra special and memorable for them. We pulled out all of the most feminine, delicate stops for Freya. She’s learning early that a girl can never try on too many headbands. Her own tiny style was all soft, girly, and floral; and we oohed and aahed over her as we swaddled her up and held her close.

About this session

Can you even deal with that little grin as she snuggles up to her momma? And the images of Freya and her daddy are almost too much to handle. They are just in love with her, and rightfully so. The images we captured in this session display the role Freya’s fallen right into in her family—she’s the gorgeous center of their world right now and she’s perfectly content in that place.I’m so looking forward to seeing her grow into her sweet personality and continue to explore her full range of expressions. Houston's Best Newborn Photographer | Fimbinger Twins Newborn

Meet Bodie and Pippa! This adorable set of boy and girl twins were so much fun to work with! I love getting to plan and prepare for twin sessions. It always me to be creative and really think outside the box! I am always up for the challenge when it comes to trying to incorporate both babies into props and poses! I always love having an assistant for all the newborn sessions. But with double the cuteness, it is so helpful to have an extra set of hands!

Bodie and Pippa's Early Bond

It can always be a little nerve racking when working with newborns because you just never know what mood they will be in, but surprisingly enough, these two slept peacefully the entire time. It was incredible to watch the bond that these two already have with one another! They snuggled up together, and I was even lucky enough to catch a few soft smiles from them!I know that they will grow up super close. It’s obvious that they are already adored by mom and dad. I am so blessed to have gotten to work with this amazing family, and I hope to see them again soon! I already have so many ideas for a double the trouble cake smash session for first birthdays!!!

Houston Baby Photographer | Grayson Turns One

I'm so excited that Grayson is one of my baby planner clients. It means I’ve had the pleasure of watching him grow up through the lens of my camera over this first year of his life. In this session, we captured his wide-eyed-wanderer, curious personality. It’s always fun to see what little characters those tiny babies from the newborn sessions turn into. Grayson was all the things you could dream for a little boy to be. Handsome, happy, adventurous, playful, cuddly with his momma, and brave like his daddy.

About Grayson's Milestone Session

By the time we reach the one year session with my baby planner clients, we have seen some pretty big moments together. As anyone would agree, a lot can change in a year.  This day and similar session are so evident of that. Mom had a fun little surprise to share at Grayson’s one year session…She’s expecting another baby and this time it’s a girl! We made sure to capture some of her adorable baby bump in one of my studio gowns.With one year under his belt, Grayson is going to make such a great big brother! He’ll definitely be able to teach his little sister how to dive into a cake and splash like crazy in the bath. Necessary talents for any proper one year old! <3
