4 Reasons to Get in The Photos With Your Newborn

Let’s face it. Post-partum bodies leave us feeling like a stranger when we look in the mirror (if you choose to look in the mirror, that is). Some things are bigger, some smaller, weight shifted to weird places, and bits hanging lower than ever before. And where exactly did all of that extra skin come from?

If we’re being honest. We are not feeling our cutest in the first two weeks after giving birth to a child.

And fun for you – that is the exact time frame the newborn photographer needs to photograph your new baby. It is SO easy to dismiss the idea of getting photos of yourself with your newborn, but I’m here to tell you to GET IN THE PHOTOS.

Hear me out on this one. I know you are sleep deprived, stressed out, dealing with post partum issues, clothes not fitting, learning about your baby and finding yourself as a new mom (or mom to multiples)….but I can promise you, taking those photos is WORTH IT.  You will look back on those photos and LOVE that moments that were captured.

Why You Should Get in The Photos

  1. It’s hard to take a selfie with you and your baby in it. A cell phone photo can’t capture the emotion you feel when you look at that precious child in your arms.

  2. Your baby will never be this size again. You’ll always want to remember how small they were in your arms. Mom brain makes you forget things like their flaky skin, tiny feet, and the way their tiny hands wrapped perfectly around your finger.

  3. Genealogy and heritage. Decades from now, your descendants will enjoy seeing photos of you and your family all together.

  4. Getting professional photos of yourself can make you look and feel amazing – there’s just something about getting your hair and makeup done that can really lift your spirits.

Yes, you will see things you don’t love about yourself, but there is no amount of money or time that will ever get you those priceless moments back. That’s why it's important to document it and preserve it. And if I’m the one photographing you and your family, my sole goal in the lifestyle portion of the session is to make you feel comfortable, beautiful, and show you in your best light.

Friendswood Newborn Photographer | Matteo

Matteo Newborn Photos

Just look at these sweet little lips and big, dark eyes!! Matteo came to visit me in Pearland from our neighbor town of Friendswood. He had such a precious face and a head full of hair. At the beginning of the session, he woke up and gave us some precious wide-eyed photos, always a sweet surprise with newborns. I usually try to get lots of sleepy and posed newborn photos (since they don’t stay in these curly positions long), but I'm also happy to catch those bright eyes and cute wiggles when baby allows. (Usually waking up means it is time to eat or change a diaper, but this little guy just wanted to check out his surrounding for a few minutes.)

I loved getting to know his family and can't wait to see them again soon for his six-month milestone session. I’m sure I’ll be amazed by his new skills and budding personality. We’ll get lots of playful, interactive shots then! His older siblings will be joining us for that session, too, so I look forward to meeting them!

For Matteo’s newborn session, Mom picked out a gorgeous selection of sets and outfits for her handsome little guy. With the studio all warmed up, we did a few simple, classic photos to show off his soft newborn skin. We kept the background neutral with tiny dots for some texture. I really wanted to capture all of his precious features: the fuzzy shoulders, wrinkly skin, and plump cheeks.

Then we moved on to a few themed photos. They’re big Astros fans, so I loved the knit baseball outfit they brought. For the others, we included deep red, plaid, and gray color schemes. The newborn caps fit his head perfectly, so we incorporated several of those in, too. He looked adorable no matter what we put him in, and he went right along with the flow, snoozing away until the end.

Welcome home, baby Matteo! Can’t wait to see them back in a few months.

Weston Newborn Portraits

It seems like just yesterday I was photographing this big sister’s newborn portraits, and now it’s her brand-new baby brother’s turn! What an honor it was to be asked to photograph this family again!

I photographed Weston’s sister's newborn session just 18 months prior to his session, and for an 18-month-old, she did amazingly well for their sibling photos – better than some preschoolers even. I know this made their mommy so very happy! You just never know how a toddler will act for photos...sometimes they are willing to participate and other times they are less than enthusiastic. But this sweet girl is already so enamored with baby Weston. She gently patted his fluffy hair and rubbed his soft skin, which lulled him into an even deeper sleep.

It’s fun when kids are this close in age because they will truly grow up together. I can’t wait to watch their relationship grow in these first special years. Of course, they’ll have their share of squabbles as they learn to play and get along, but I have a feeling they’ll also be each other’s best friend and greatest supporter!

Brother was so handsome with enviable lashes and kissable baby lips. His detail shots are so sweet! And I just love the boy colors in this session with hints of blue and lots of dark woody colors to contrast the lighter neutrals. Mom did a great job of coordinating and letting me know what they like! I had so much fun putting this together for them. Weston is just as sweet as can be, and I know this family will enjoy looking back on these memories for years to come.

Documenting your children’s first years of life is so important. You already know how fast the time goes, and preserving those precious moments and details on your smartphone is just not enough. Down the road, you’ll want beautiful, high-quality heirloom collections that can be shared, passed down, and enjoyed. Click [here] to learn more about our services and products.

Kollins Newborn Portraits

Kollins Newborn Portraits

This little cutie patootie put on an endless show of priceless expressions for me to capture – both awake and asleep! What a fun baby girl’s newborn session at the studio!

I've known this family for many years, and it was so great to reunite with them again. I grew up with her sister (we were cheerleaders together in high school), and we’ve all kept in touch some over the years. When she contacted me to let me know she wanted me to photograph her new baby girl's newborn photos, I was so ecstatic! I couldn’t wait to catch up and reminisce a little.

They came to my Pearland studio and were amazed at the number of props, headbands, wraps, and beautiful things I had in my studio collection for newborn sessions. (To be honest, I’m such a sucker for those things, and my collection just keeps growing!) After learning her style and how she has the nursery decorated, I kept the session very sweet and girly, with lots of pinks and floral details. Some photos are bright and cheerful with lots of bright pink, teal, and peach, while others are softer with blush-colored hues. Her baby girl is so gorgeous a looked so sweet in whatever set we put her in.

Check out her adorable faces below! She squinted, puckered, smiled, and snoozed. She even gave us a glimpse of her big beautiful eyes. Big brother was super sweet and very proud of his new sister. Some of their photos together are my favorites, and I have a feeling they’re Mom and Dad’s favorites, too – what a joy it is to watch sibling relationships bloom! I can already tell he is going to be the best big brother – and she will be very protected as she grows up!

I’m was so excited (and honored!) that they chose to book a baby plan, so I got to see them every few months for their baby girl's milestone photos. She is so beautiful and still so full of smiles! Check back in to watch her grow!

League City Newborn Portraits

League City Newborn Portraits

I've known this awesome family for many years as they are not only former clients but good friends! They truly are some of the nicest and most welcoming people you will ever meet. They were blessed with two handsome boys for their first two babies...so when baby #3 came along, and they found out it was a sweet baby girl, there was tons of excitement!

I was so grateful they trusted me with photographing baby Ellis’ newborn session, and mom and I worked hard to coordinate ideas and plans for her session. She was born right around July 4th so we made sure to incorporate that theme into a couple of her photos. They wanted classic yet unique photos, and I’m in love with how they came out – so perfect to show off all of little Ellis’ beautiful features. We also did lots of lovely pinks, pastels, and lace. She looked like a little doll snoozing away in her basket, and my heart melted when she showed off a sleepy little smile – a rare thing at a newborn shoot!

Ellis’ big brothers were so proud of their new baby sister, and their beaming adoration made from some seriously adorable sibling photos. Both handsome boys have such striking eyes, and the photo of the three of them together was pure perfection. I can’t wait to watch their sibling relationships develop over the years. This is one protected and loved little girl! They’ll be off like the Three Musketeers in no time. Have I mentioned how much I loved this family?!

Crazy enough, it has already been a year since this newborn session. They booked a Baby Plan, so I got to watch Ellis grow up this year, and it was such an honor and joy! She is a gorgeous baby girl with such a fun personality – she will keep those big brothers of her on their toes for sure!

Houston Newborn Photographer | Sweet Savannah

Houston Newborn Photographer | Sweet Savannah

This little beauty is the queen of sleepy smiles! Normally, it’s pretty hard to catch one of those rare moments, but baby Savannah gave us several. She absolutely lit up the room with joy and what a pleasure it was to have her family in the studio.

The Matheson Family is new to the Houston area, so I was honored they chose me to be their newborn photographer. This is their first baby, and with all the transitioning between moves and having a baby, she was a little bit "older" in terms of newborns when she came in for her session.

I typically recommend scheduling newborn sessions within the first two to three weeks when babies are still in their sleepy, easy-to-pose phase.  Savannah was closer to four weeks but she was still a dream to work with. She didn’t have any trouble snoozing her way through the swaddled egg and froggy poses – she was just adorable. This proves that even older newborns can be photographed. Some poses need to be adjusted as the baby grows, but beautiful images of your baby can be done at any age and I would never want a family to miss out because they missed “The Window”! After all, life happens and babies create their own schedules.

For this lovely session, Mom and Dad wanted to keep it simple and classic yet distinctly feminine. We used lots of dusty rose, mauve, pastel peach, and subtle floral prints so that her beautiful complexion and tiny features really stood out as the focus of the pictures. I loved the soft sets they chose. She looked so sweet and snuggly there as she slept with her little teddy bear. I’m not going to lie, the hardest part of being a newborn photographer is resisting the urge to snuggle those little cuties!

Welcome home, little one! What a joy is was to photograph this sweet princess.

Baby Giles Newborn Photography Session

This was our last session of 2018 and, coincidentally, scheduled it on the client's wedding anniversary. We all thought it was so neat! This is their first baby, so these sessions are held so dearly.

Have I mentioned how much I love doing boys’ sessions?  Most people think that little girls have more options (which may be some truth in that) but can we just stop and say that little boys steal so many hearts… usually for their whole lives?!  And being able to document that thud of a family’s heartbeat brings so much joy to me.  Jenna and I decided to stick with mostly neutrals for this session and decided to have fun with some prints for hat selections.  Mom and dad also loved this session, so I feel that we hit it out of the park with this one!  Giles slept so well and was such a chunk.  This combination makes for the most fun newborn sessions.

We stuck to neutrals when it came time to do the parent portraits.  These are timeless and classic- which generally never go outdated.  Since I specialize in displaying my artwork of your moments in your homes, I do like to get those timeless and classic shots. My goal is for you to be able to display them for years to come. Your portraits should grow with you as your family grows!

That said, I do love adding in those pops of colors to give your session a fun and artistic look to it, which is precisely what happened with that mustard and navy combination.  Great for a little boy and beautiful and fun to look at.

Side note: Giles’ name is special in that it came from relatives who had fought in the Texas revolution. How cool is that?  I love learning about my clients and their most precious, so do not be alarmed when I ask you these types of questions.  Happy Wednesday friends! <3

Gorgeous Baby Portraits Houston | Hazel

Meet baby Hazel. Ruler of my studio who wrapped her parents and Jenna and I around those tiny little fingers. Her little sister and this doll baby are both so photogenic and just so easy.

Because this family is a family of girls (sorry dad) we wanted to style it with all the girlie things. How did I do? ;) We used florals, pinks, rhinestone embellishments, lovies, lace and all. the. snuggles.

This sweet girl was so sleepy and so easy to photograph, she let me do so many poses. And we were able to document this fleeting time in their lives so beautifully with a variety of set ups and colors.  When clients follow my prep guide for newborn portraits, you can expect to have a session with this much variety! That said, though, it is also important to note that newborn babies also are human! So they do possess their own personality. So some may not like certain poses or positions.  Do not fear, since I am trained and experienced with newborn portraiture, I always have been able to fill up a gallery- even if your baby does not like a certain pose!

This session also highlights a great example of outfit ideas for mom, dad and siblings! We stuck with neutral tops, and a neutral background. This allowed us to bring in some color from big sis and mama on their skirts!  I also recommend doing your hair and makeup (makeup is priority, here) or getting it done.  You may not feel up to it, but you will look back on these images and be grateful you chose to.  These are the very first moments in your baby’s life, so we want to make sure we are jumping in the shots, and feeling our best(with little sleep ha!).

This just promotes that fun and exciting experience that I am always trying to achieve for each one of my clients.

Questions?  I am here to help! I would love to talk with you!

Pearland Newborn Photographer | Charlotte

I am absolutely in love with this newborn session. Charlotte came to me at just a few short days old, and boy do I love those squishy baby cheeks! I had a ton of fun with this session, playing with moody tones and various textural elements. She was such a trooper throughout the entire session, hardly making a peep. In other words, a Pearland Newborn Photographer dream client!

A Photographer's Dream

We started our session wrapping little Charlotte in a mauve swaddling blanket, and laying her on layered blankets. Each accented the other perfectly. I wanted to add an additional feminine touch, so we placed a few sprigs of flowers and greenery around her. So adorable!!

One of my favorite shots from this session is of Charlotte surrounded entirely by varying shades of blue. It's definitely her color! I am loving this vintage floral trend I've seen sprout up lately. Crossing my fingers it's here to stay!!

Houston Newborn Portrait Photographer | Baby Michael

Baby Boy Blue

I’m a sucker for the blues—blue hues, that is. Especially striking cobalt against natural, rustic tones. I am obsessed with the color scheme and props that we used for baby Michael’s newborn portraits. We kept it simple yet still creative. Michael looked like the cutest special delivery you’ve ever seen tucked inside a blue pail wrapped in soft blankets and topped with his little baby cap. We also used a tiny vintage doll bed to make him look larger-than-life with a miniature stocking cap and some pants with adorable stitching and great cribs from the Treasure Rooms site online. I really love all the button accents—they were the perfect little motifs to match the cute-as-a-button baby. Michael was such an easy newborn to pose, giving us tons of mischievous smirks, smiles and scrunched-up faces. He woke up briefly in the middle of the shoot to give us a picture of his big, handsome eyes before succumbing to sleep again.

This newborn shoot was extra special since it let me catch up with my friends who are previous clients. It is such an honor to get to watch my clients' families grow! I had the pleasure of photographing Michael’s big sister's newborn session a few years ago, and I was so excited when they asked me to do their next baby’s (Michael) portraits earlier this year! This family is so sweet, beautiful, and easy to work with. And baby Michael has the cutest dimples ever!! He was such a trooper through it all, and I have a feeling he’ll get a kick out of this portraits when he’s older—maybe as his parents show off their cutie at a high school graduation party in 18 years or even at a rehearsal dinner later?!

Houston Newborn Photographer | Baby Zoe Wood

This has been an amazing year of returning families!! I always look forward to seeing familiar faces, catching up, and seeing how much the little ones have grown. The opportunity to develop deeper relationships as a Houston Newborn Photographer with these families might have secretly been the reason I started the Baby Plan. It’s working. ;)

Sleeping Beauty

Baby Zoe is a gorgeous baby girl! I had the pleasure of photographing baby #1 (a boy) for the Wood family a few years ago. I loved watching him develop his own little personality over the course of that year, and I am so excited to do the same with his baby sister. Plus, we made sure to include him in Zoe’s shoot, and I can’t believe how quickly he has transformed into such a handsome little boy! I almost didn’t recognize him. Zoe is so blessed to have such a sweet big brother to watch over her. I have no doubt that these two will have a close bond.

Mom loves all things floral and girly, so I made sure to do it up on this precious newborn session! I am obsessed with all of the color combinations and styles we used for this shoot. It was a lot of fun for me to be able to create some different looks so that the Woods have images they can use for just about anything—nursery décor, wall art, announcements, or even a mantelpiece display. I love the soft lavender blanket, rustic moss-covered basket, and pastel florals for the newborn portraits. They added a creative touch without going overboard. For the family portraits, we used a neutral background to really highlight the family as a unit and capture their interactions with each other.

I am so happy for this growing family, and I am thankful that they have chosen me as their photographer to document this special time in their lives. They are not just clients, they are friends. Congratulations Wood Family on baby #2—she is perfect!

Houston Newborn Studio Photography | Alexander

Look at this sweet newborn session! Alexander is such a sweet baby boy who is perfect from his full head of dark brown hair down to his little toes! I wanted to make sure that I captured every flawless detail of him for mom and dad to reminisce on forever. I can’t stress enough to these families to get their little angels in as soon as possible because they grow up so quickly.

A Simplistic Approach

For this session, mom and dad requested something simple in order to keep the spotlight on Mr. Alexander. I’m such a fan of the earthy color scheme that they went with. You never know if newborns will get fuzzy during a session, but this one slept the entire time. Even when I moved him from position to position. I was lucky enough that he wasn’t too sleepy because he gave me the cutes grin when he was wrapped up in the material. Especially when he was placed in my little wooden basket. The most heartwarming part of the entire session was when mom was holding him close and kissing him on those big cheeks! There’s nothing quite like watching a mother’s love right in front of you, and it never gets old!

Houston Newborn Photography | What to Wear to Your Newborn Session

What to Wear to Your Newborn Session

Having a newborn session is such a fun experience! However, being a mom with a new little one can also be a very stressful time. Our newborns are precious to us, and we don’t want anything to go wrong. As a Houston Newborn Photography artist, I have seen it all, and quite frankly - I expect it! Babies will be babies, and it is totally something that everyone understands. They cry, spit up, etc, and there is nothing wrong with that. My motto is to let the baby be in charge of the session. Although us moms worry about the small things that we literally have no control of, we tend to forget the things that we do have control of, such as our wardrobe! If you have a Houston newborn photography coming up and have totally forgotten to plan your outfit, I am here to help! Here are 6 tips on what to wear to your baby’s session:

Stay Neutral

You will want your photos to stay current, so try to pick out neutral colors. This will ensure that your images won’t get dated. There is nothing worse than looking back at a photo and thinking, “what in the world was I wearing?!”

Be Comfy

You will not regret wearing breathable clothing! The studio can get warm, and you will want to be as comfortable as possible during your newborn session.

Dress it Up

Women, it’s always a good idea to wear a cute flowy dress during the session. Not only will you look dressed up for the session, but dresses that allow for movement will flatter your body and keep you comfortable at the same time.

Sharp but Casual

For all the dads out there, staple v necks and crew neck shirts look super handsome, yet casual for your newborn’s session. Some of my favorite stores that provide affordable men’s clothing is Gap and Old Navy.

Think Simple

If you have other children that will be in your newborn session, dress them in simple and neutral colors. Kids have such cute features, that I think it is important for the focus to be on their cute eyes and smile, rather than the clothes they are wearing. Dressing your kids up in clothing that has different textures can provide cute and playful details in the photos.

Go Shopping

If you are looking for the perfect outfit for your newborn sessions, you’ve gotta checkout some of my favorite stores! Free People, Gap, and Old Navy never fail to provide me or my clients with the perfect outfits for the occasion!

Houston Newborn and Baby Photography Studio | Newborn Photography Safety

Newborn Photography Safety

Your precious newborn arrives, and all you want is to hold them forever. It’s moments like these that make you want to cherish each and every memory your share with your new child. As sweet and as precious as having newborn photos done, it is crucial that safety is the number one priority. Here are 4 rules of thumb that I follow as a Houston Newborn and Baby Photography Studio artist in order to ensure that your newborn is the safest it can be:

Four Rules for Newborn Photography Safety

Have Help On-Hand:

I always have an assistant with me. There will never be a time that the baby is left unattended. This is very important to me, because there are moments where I may have to step away, and the last thing I want is for your kiddo to be alone. My assistants are always very trained and prepared for whatever comes their way.

2018-03-09_0005.jpg

Vaccinations:

I make it a priority of mine to be current on all of my vaccinations. I want your children to be clear of obtaining a disease that may be harmful or life threatening. If you are interested in seeing my vaccination records, please do not hesitate to ask!

2018-03-09_0006.jpg

Sanitation:

Sanitation is a must. Not only do I sanitize the props and equipment that is being used, I also keep hand sanitizer all over the studio. On top of that, I make sure to wash my hands throughout the entire session. Your baby deserves to have a germ free environment!

2018-03-09_0010.jpg

Composites:

I never put babies in unnatural positions unsupported. We all see those adorable photos of a baby propped up on their hands or holding their heads up by themselves. The reality is that newborns simply cannot support themselves yet. Many photos you see me do are composites, which are multiple images put together to create just one photo.

2018-03-09_0009.jpg

As a Houston Newborn and Baby Photography Studio artist, I believe that keeping your little ones safe is the most important part of the session. The cuteness overload tends to follow shortly after we have a clean and comfy environment for the baby!

Houston Newborn Studio Photographer | Rosemary June

Houston Newborn Studio Photographer | Rosemary June

Rosemary June was a doll for her newborn session.  She is baby number four for this beautiful family.  I had the pleasure of capturing baby number three a couple years ago and was thrilled to have them back in the studio with their latest little blessing.  She was such an angel throughout the whole process.  She was a willing participant in the set and wardrobe changes necessary to capture the different images of the session. A photographer's dream!

Capturing Sweet Memories

Mom, Holly, has become a great friend of mine over the last couple years of photographing their family. I was excited to bring her vision to life.  Sleeping newborn images are to be expected and they are such sweet moments to have as forever images. But my favorite thing is when a sweet little brand new baby gives us a some of their precious awake time during their session.  Rosemary surprised us with a little awake time.  It is funny to see their little personalities emerge early on.

A Feminine Approach

Holly and I had a great time dressing Rosemary up and choosing the different elements and set pieces for Rosemary’s session.  We incorporated creams and blushes throughout and some fun florals, and of course we always had an adorable hat or headband for the little sweet pea.  I loved her pouty top lip and darling cheeks.  It is such a blessing to love what you do and I am so happy that I love working as a Newborn Photographer, capturing beautiful keepsakes for families and making fantastic friends in the process.

Houston Newborn and Family Photographer | Studio vs. Lifestyle Sessions

Houston Newborn and Family Photographer | Studio vs. Lifestyle Sessions

As a Houston newborn and family photographer, I have the pleasure of providing two types of services for my clients: In Studio Sessions and Lifestyle Sessions. These two styles of photography provide totally different outcomes. If you have a session booked in the future, or if you are unsure of what to expect, here are the differences and similarities between in studio and lifestyle sessions:

Lifestyle Sessions

Lifestyle sessions are typically done in home, and include the whole family as the focus of the session. I love lifestyle sessions. They allow for more candid photographs, such as natural smiles, laughter, and play. This is a time for you and your family to go about spending time together in different ways. Meanwhile, I'm in the background capturing your raw emotions. Many activities can be done in the home during a lifestyle session. Such as playing a game, reading books, or even baking cookies! This is a great session if you and your loved ones are wanting to have real life moments documented.

Studio Sessions

In studio sessions, on the other hand, are a bit different. These sessions typically focus on newborn or small children, and tend to be more styled and posed. Working in the studio provides you with intimate photos of your kiddo. Like lifestyle sessions, your child can do what he/she does best...sleeping, playing, or even a cake smash experience. The difference is that this must be prepared in advance, rather than spur-of-the-moment. I love being able to make my client’s vision come true, so I try to prepare the best background and props to fit your preferred style!
Lifestyle and studio sessions both give you and your family a unique and stress free experience. There is nothing better than having wonderful memories of your family to cherish forever! If you would like to book a lifestyle or in studio session with Taryn Melgoza Photography, please click here!
Houston Newborn Photographer | Everett

Houston Newborn Photographer | Everett

This family is simply stunning and I loved working with them as his Houston Newborn Photographer.  Baby Everett was such a good sport throughout the whole session.  He was such a relaxed baby, so posing him was a dream. After a house full of girls, it was a fun day when a little boy entered the family.  Everett is absolutely precious and adored by the entire family.  His big sisters are smitten with him.  You can tell by the family portrait of everyone together that this little man has brought a lot of love out of everyone and mom and dad could not be more thrilled to add a new member to the crew.

About this session

Mom decorated his room in a nautical theme and brought along his personalized buoy for his session as a prop.  These are a few of my favorite images from last year.  I love that it has his name and birthdate on it, and he looks so cute relaxing in the center.  His chubby cheeks make me smile. He looks like he floats around in his buoy every day.  He is so relaxed and comfortable. It is always an exciting session when I am able to capture a newborn with their eyes open, and Everett brought some excitement to my day during his session.  The image of him with the adorable teddy bear hat and his eyes wide open is priceless.  His expression is too cute.

Houston Newborn Photographer | Elizabeth

Houston Newborn Photographer | Elizabeth

I cannot stop looking at these gorgeous newborn portraits we captured of baby Elizabeth!  What a sweet little princess she is!  I was so excited to see this couple again!  They had selected to have their baby plan with me, so I photographed their maternity session a few months ago. I now have absolute pleasure of finally meeting this precious little new addition to their family. There is so much love between this couple. I know they will shower Elizabeth with all the attention and snuggles they can!  I mean, she’s gorgeous! Wouldn’t you?!?

About this session

This baby girl was just so beautiful, and I had so much fun planning out a custom newborn session with many feminine and floral touches.  The session took place in my Pearland and we selected some of my sweetest headbands and bonnets for Elizabeth as she slept so comfortably snuggled.  One of my favorites is Elizabeth atop the shabby chic antiqued box surrounded by pink roses and soft blush peonies.I cannot wait to see Elizabeth and her parents again for her one year session. Knowing how quickly that time will fly by, and I can’t believe this little girl will be standing by then!  I love watching these babies grow up in front of my camera!  And I hope to provide this family with many priceless images for their heirloom albums and gallery wall reflecting the milestone moments of this little one’s life as she grows.2017-07-13_0015.jpg2017-07-13_0017.jpg2017-07-13_0020.jpg2017-07-13_0022.jpg2017-07-13_0025.jpg2017-07-13_0027.jpg2017-07-13_0028.jpg2017-07-13_0031.jpg2017-07-13_0039.jpg2017-07-13_0016.jpg2017-07-13_0018.jpg2017-07-13_0023.jpg2017-07-13_0021.jpg2017-07-13_0029.jpg2017-07-13_0032.jpg2017-07-13_0034.jpg2017-07-13_0038.jpg2017-07-13_0019.jpg2017-07-13_0024.jpg2017-07-13_0026.jpg2017-07-13_0030.jpg2017-07-13_0033.jpg2017-07-13_0035.jpg2017-07-13_0036.jpg

Houston Newborn Photographer | Freya

Houston Newborn Photographer | Freya

This little lady is Freya—such a lovely name for a lovely, tiny bundle of a girl. Freya is her parents’ first baby, so I wanted her newborn session to be extra special and memorable for them. We pulled out all of the most feminine, delicate stops for Freya. She’s learning early that a girl can never try on too many headbands. Her own tiny style was all soft, girly, and floral; and we oohed and aahed over her as we swaddled her up and held her close.

About this session

Can you even deal with that little grin as she snuggles up to her momma? And the images of Freya and her daddy are almost too much to handle. They are just in love with her, and rightfully so. The images we captured in this session display the role Freya’s fallen right into in her family—she’s the gorgeous center of their world right now and she’s perfectly content in that place.I’m so looking forward to seeing her grow into her sweet personality and continue to explore her full range of expressions. Freya’s family invested in my baby plan so you will see this beautiful girl again.2017-07-13_0081.jpg2017-07-13_0085.jpg2017-07-13_0090.jpg2017-07-13_0093.jpg2017-07-13_0094.jpg2017-07-13_0098.jpg2017-07-13_0102.jpg2017-07-13_0105.jpg2017-07-13_0108.jpg2017-07-13_0083.jpg2017-07-13_0087.jpg2017-07-13_0089.jpg2017-07-13_0091.jpg2017-07-13_0092.jpg2017-07-13_0096.jpg2017-07-13_0100.jpg2017-07-13_0103.jpg2017-07-13_0104.jpg2017-07-13_0106.jpg2017-07-13_0107.jpg2017-07-13_0109.jpg

Houston Fine Art Newborn Photography | Landon

Houston Fine Art Newborn Photography | Landon

Hello all! If you know me at all, you would know that I love love love babies! Not only do I adore my own children, but working with other little ones never fails to fill my heart with joy. I have been so excited to share this session with you guys. This little client was the sweetest little New Orleans Saints fan on the planet! Landon was just a few days old at the time of this session. And was as cute as can be in every single image!

The Newest Saint's Fan

Landon's family are all obviously huge Saints fans. So his mama brought some great ideas along to incorporate their favorite team into the photos. She had a New Orleans Saints themed prop photo with an adorable hat to match, and a gold belly cast that Landon snuggled inside so sweetly. I loved being able to help her vision of this session come to life, and document these wonderful moments that will forever be cherished. When it comes to newborn photography, the additional of textural elements truly add a beautiful depth to the collections. My favorite from this session were the images of Landon, curled up in a mustard yellow swaddling blanket, accented with pops of deep teal and natural elements. Swoon! How gorgeous is this little guy?!Landon was so precious, and slept nearly the entire time. From the New Orleans Saints themed photos, to the simple traditional swaddling photos, I am so thrilled with the outcome! Welcome to the world, little Landon, and Go Saints!2017-05-10_0022.jpg2017-05-10_0023.jpg2017-05-10_0024.jpg2017-05-10_0025.jpg2017-05-10_0026.jpg2017-05-10_0035.jpg2017-05-10_0028.jpg2017-05-10_0029.jpg2017-05-10_0031.jpg2017-05-10_0032.jpg2017-05-10_0033.jpg2017-05-10_0027.jpg2017-05-10_0030.jpg2017-05-10_0034.jpg2017-05-10_0037.jpg2017-05-10_0036.jpg
