Five Favorite Locations for Houston Family Portraits

So, you set the date. You've hired photographer (hopefully me!). And now it's time to choose the perfect location for your Houston Family Portrait session! With so many beautiful and unique spots to choose from in the Greater Houston area, it can be overwhelming to narrow it down to one. As a seasoned Houston Family Photographer, I've had the opportunity to photograph families in a variety of locations over the past decade, so I've compiled a list of my top FIVE favorite locations for Houston family portraits.

1. Field with Tall Grasses

If you're looking for a location that exudes natural beauty and a soft, dreamy feel, then a field with tall grasses is a great choice. With the sun shining down and the grass swaying in the breeze, this location provides the perfect backdrop for family portraits. I particularly love this spot during the spring and early summer months when the grass is at its tallest and the wildflowers are in bloom.

2. Field with Large Trees

For a more rustic and organic feel, a field with large trees is the perfect choice. This location provides a stunning natural setting that's both peaceful and inviting. The towering trees offer a natural frame for your portraits and can provide shade during those hot summer months. This location is particularly ideal in the evenings around sunset to create a dreamy glow to your portraits.

3. The Beach

With the sand between your toes and the waves crashing in the background, the beach provides a fun and playful backdrop for your portraits. Whether you're playing in the water or building sandcastles, the beach is a great location for capturing candid and authentic family moments. Sunsets at the beach are stunning and make the most beautiful backdrops!

4. Urban Setting

For families who want a more modern and urban feel, an urban setting is a great choice. With the city skyline in the background and the hustle and bustle of the city around you, an urban location provides a unique and contemporary backdrop for your portraits. This location is particularly ideal for families who want to capture the energy and excitement of the city. I personally love Sabine Bridge or the Post HTX for amazing skyline views!

5. Graffiti Wall or Mural

For families who want to add a pop of color and creativity to their portraits, a graffiti wall or mural is the perfect choice. With vibrant colors and bold designs, a graffiti wall or mural provides a fun and playful backdrop for your portraits. This location is particularly ideal for families who want to showcase their personality and creativity in their portraits. Check out the Houston Mural Map to see all of the amazing mural walls in the Houston area!

Choosing the perfect location for your Houston family portraits depends on a variety of factors, including the season, weather, outfits, and the general look and feel you want for your portraits. All of these things should be taken into consideration when making your location decision.

One of the first questions I always ask my clients is the type of setting they have in mind for their portraits. Sometimes it takes a little research to land on the perfect spot, but that's part of my job as a full service Houston Family Photographer…making sure we select the perfect location to create the style of session you have in mind! If you’re ready to book your next family portrait session, contact me today so we can start making your family photo dreams come true!

Newborn Photography Houston - Located Just 10 miles South of Downtown

I can’t believe I have now been in business for over 10 years! In the past decade, I’ve been honored to photograph over 250 babies in the Greater Houston area…and I am proud to say I consider myself an expert in the Houston Newborn Photography market (that’s me tooting my own horn!). For each and every Newborn Photography session in Houston, I make it my goal to capture life’s perfect moments that my clients will treasure for a lifetime.

Our studio is conveniently located just 10 miles south of downtown Houston in Pearland, TX. It's a boutique studio that's well-stocked with a large variety of prop and wardrobe options, so you'll have plenty of choices when it comes to styling your session. One of my favorite things about the studio is that it offers both natural light and studio light options.

This recent newborn photography Houston session was an absolute dream come true. The family was gorgeous, with a sweet big brother who was more than happy to cooperate for the photos. Baby girl was perfectly sleepy, making it easy to capture those classic newborn poses.

The session was held in early spring, just before Easter, so I had the perfect opportunity to use our adorable bunny bonnet prop. We chose colors that complemented baby girl's nursery, including a mix of neutral colors, light pastel pink, and lilac. The resulting photos are simply stunning.

One of the highlights of the session was seeing big brother's face light up when he sat next to his baby sister. It's clear that he's already head over heels in love with her. And the first family photos together as a family of four are absolutely heartwarming.

I hope my passion for capturing these special moments shines through in every photo that I take. If you're expecting a little one, be sure to contact me today to book your newborn portrait session!

Five Outdoor Spring Time Family Activities in Houston, TX

Spring makes me happy! I love watching the world come back to life…even if my allergies don’t particularly enjoy it. Springtime is a wonderful time to get OUTSIDE and enjoy the beautiful weather in Houston. With the warm sun shining and nature in full bloom, there are plenty of fun activities for families to enjoy together. Here are the some of my families’ top five favorite spring activities in Houston.

One Year old baby girl picking strawberries in Houston

Strawberry Picking at Froberg's Farm in Alvin

Picking Strawberries at Froberg’s is a yearly tradition for our family! My kiddos love picking strawberries each year at this local family owned farm in Alvin, TX. With the temperatures warming up, the strawberries are exploding and ripe for picking. t's the perfect time to get outside and enjoy the fresh air! Be sure to spend a few minutes teaching your kiddos which strawberries to pick and NOT to pick so you take home the very best berries. We usually bring home 5- 10 lbs each visit….that’s a lot of strawberries! Not sure what to do with all of those berries, here are some ideas: make homemade jam, bake strawberry desserts like cake or pie, or wash and freeze them to use throughout the year for smoothies. Visiting Froberg’s Farm is also a great way to teach kids about where their food comes from and the importance of eating fresh and healthy produce.

Visit the Houston Zoo

We’ve been long time supporters of The Houston Zoo and have spent many gorgeous spring days visiting our favorite animals. When the weather is right, it’s a great place to spend a beautiful spring day with the family! From exploring the exhibits, to seeing a variety of animals from all over the world, to riding the carousel…there are always tons of options to entertain the kiddos. Our favorite actives are the Giraffe Feeding Platform, the McNair Asian Elephant Habitat, and the petting zoo! Be sure to check out their newest exhibit, Galapagos Islands, which opens on Friday April 7th! Pro tip - pack a picnic to enjoy mid day lunch at the zoo!

Little girl standing in Texas Bluebonnets in Houston, TX

Go for a Hike in Memorial Park

As my kids have gotten older, hiking has become a family favorite activity. Being outside just feels good! Years ago, I used to run every weekend at Memorial Park with friends…so this place hold a special place in my hear! This park is a large urban park located in the right in the heart of Houston. It offers over 1,500 acres of green space, including a 3-mile trail that winds through a beautiful tree-filled forest. The park is a great place to go for a hike or bike ride with the family. While you’re there, you can also visit the Houston Arboretum & Nature Center which is just down the street!

Attend a Houston Astros Game

Opening day is just around the corner and our family is counting down the days! We are all Astros obsessed in our house, so we watch almost every single game (seriously!), but visiting Minute Maid park to see a home game in person is the BEST experience! We always make plans to attend at least 2-3 Astros home games each season because there just isn’t anything like it. And when the weather is perfect they open the roof to the stadium which is the icing on the cake! You can book your tickets now and plan to enjoy a day out at the ballpark, eat some delicious food, and cheer on the good guys. Did you know, Minute Maid Stadium also has a play area for kids, where they can run, climb, and play games…? Check it out on your next visit!

Visit the Beach in Galveston, TX

We are so blessed to live just minutes away from the beach here in Houston, TX…and there is nothing better than a day on the sand, soaking up the sun and enjoying the beautiful spring weather. With mild temperatures and fewer crowds than the summer months, spring is the perfect time to explore the sandy shores of Galveston. From swimming, to sunbathing, to hunting for crabs and seashells, building sandcastles, or flying kits… there are plenty of activities to keep you entertained. You can also go fishing, rent a kayak or paddleboard, or simply relax and enjoy the view. Don't forget to pack sunscreen, hats, and plenty of water to stay hydrated under the Texas sun! When you’re day on the beach concludes, be sure to visit some of Galveston’s best restaurants for fresh and amazing seafood!

Houston has plenty of fun and engaging activities for families to enjoy during the spring season. So get outside and make some memories with your family this spring!

Top 3 Favorite Newborn Poses in our Houston Newborn Studio

As one of Houston’s top newborn portrait photographers, I have photographed over 300 babies over the past 5 years…! That is both amazing and unbelievable to me as it never really does feel like work to me! I’m delighted to photograph each and every baby that visits our studio and am so grateful that you continue to trust me with these precious memories. You may notice during your Houston Newborn Portrait Session that we speak in a code langue when discussing poses and props for your session. These newborn pose names are pretty standard in our industry but sound like gibberish to outsiders! Over the past few years, here are the top 3 favorite newborn poses that our clients love and continue to request along with a description of how to achieve these poses:

The Froggy Pose

1. The Froggy Pose

This is the number one most requested newborn pose. This pose is where we see the baby's head propped up on their elbows and hands. This pose requires the baby to be very sleepy and relaxed, making it one of the most challenging poses to capture. However, we always attempt to capture this pose in every newborn session because it is such an adorable pose and a client favorite. But, we can’t guarantee we will be able to capture this particular pose of your baby as it greatly depends on your baby’s temperament the day of your portrait session. If the baby is fussy or unhappy during this pose, we may have to skip it and move on to a pose that the baby is comfortable with. Our number one goal is always to keep the baby happy and safe while creating timeless memories.

Swaddled with a sweet bear lovie

2. Swaddled with Lovie Pose

The second most popular pose is the Swaddled with Lovie Pose. Swaddling mimics the environment within the womb, keeping the baby content and peacefully sleeping. Almost every baby loves to be swaddled, even if you think they hate it! It’s common for your baby to protest the process of actually being swaddled but to becoming content and happy once they are secure in their swaddling wrap. To make the pose even cuter, we wrap the baby with their hands peeking out and add one of our adorable lovie animals into the setup. Our studio has a variety of bear lovies, a little lamb lovie, an owl, and two adorable felted bunny rabbit lovies that are used frequently in our Houston Newborn Photography Sessions.

Backlit Mommy & Daddy with Baby

3. Backlit Mommy and Daddy Pose

The third most popular pose is the Backlit Mommy and Daddy Pose. This pose uses natural light only, where we position both parents in front of our studio window with the baby being held in between them. The final result is a beautifully back-lit image that focuses on the new family and their connection.

At Taryn Melgoza Photography, we understand that every baby is unique and has their own preferences. If your baby shows any signs of discomfort during a particular pose, we will never force it. Our main goal is to create a comfortable and safe environment for your baby while capturing beautiful and timeless memories.

If you're expecting a baby in 2023 and want to create beautiful memories of your newborn, contact us today to reserve your estimated date on our calendar. We only accept a limited number of newborn sessions each month to ensure that our clients receive the highest level of service. We'd love to work with your family and create the most beautiful memories for you to cherish.

Planning the Perfect Houston Newborn Portrait Session

I was thrilled to meet this sweet baby girl and capture her precious newborn moments in my Pearland newborn studio recently. From the moment I saw her thick black hair, I knew we were going to create some beautiful images for her family to cherish.

Before the session, I always take the time to consult with my clients to ensure that we create a gallery that reflects their style and preferences. For this session, we incorporated classic girl colors, including pink and lavender, along with some stunning floral elements that matched the baby girl's nursery colors. The result was a beautiful gallery of images that truly reflected the family's personal style and preferences.

During the session, I was pleased to find that this little one was an excellent sleeper, which made my job so much easier. I was able to pose her in various ways and capture her at her most peaceful and serene moments. Working with newborns can be challenging, but this little girl made it a joy.

When it came time for the reveal appointment, the family was thrilled with the images we had created together. They decided on a keepsake album to display their favorite images from the session. I always encourage my clients to consider an album because it's such a beautiful way to showcase their newborn's first memories. The album will be a treasured keepsake that they can pass down for generations to come.

This was the family's first baby, and their excitement was palpable. The entire family was over the moon with joy at this new addition, and I felt honored to be a part of capturing these early moments. As a Houston newborn photographer, I feel so grateful to be able to do what I love, and sessions like this one remind me of why I'm so passionate about newborn photography.

Overall, this session was a joy to photograph. From the sweet baby girl's thick black hair to the stunning floral elements we incorporated, every detail came together beautifully. I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to work with this wonderful family and create a gallery of images that will be cherished for a lifetime.

Fine Art Newborn Twin Photographer, Baby Boy and Baby Girl in Houston, TX

Capturing the essence of a newborn is an art form, and it's always an honor to be entrusted with this task. As one of Houston’s best fine art photographers, I understand the importance of preserving those first few precious moments of a baby's life. That's why I was thrilled to photograph a set of boy and girl twins in Taryn Melgoza Photography's fine art studio, located just south of Houston.

When I arrived at the studio, I was greeted by two tiny, sleeping babies. It's always a relief when newborns sleep well during their session, and these little ones were no exception. With their peaceful demeanor, I was able to capture stunning images of them.

For this session, I opted for neutral colors, which complemented the twins' delicate features. The simplicity of the colors and the props helped to highlight the twins' personalities and showcase their unique individuality. I used a variety of textures and layers to create a range of images that were both timeless and captivating.

One of the things I love about photographing newborns is the fact that they change so rapidly during their first few weeks of life. This is why scheduling a session when the babies are around 20 days old is the sweet spot for capturing those newborn poses. It's also why I encourage parents to book a Baby Plan collection with my studio, which allows them to document their baby's growth and development over the course of their first year.

This family chose to do just that, and I was able to photograph the twins again at their six-month session. It was incredible to see how much they had grown and developed in just a few short months. Now, their one-year session is coming up, and I'm excited to see them once again.

At their one-year session, we'll be doing a twin cake smash, which is always a fun and memorable experience. The twins will have a blast digging into their own personalized cakes, and I'll be there to capture every moment.

As a Houston Newborn Photographer, it's a privilege to be a part of these families' lives and to help them document their precious moments. Whether it's a newborn session, a milestone session, or a family session, I'm honored to be the one to capture those memories for them to cherish for years to come.

Capturing Moments That Last a Lifetime: A 18-Month-Old Baby Boy's Portrait Session

As a photographer, it's always a joy to see the growth and development of my subjects over time. And this 18-month-old baby boy's portrait session was no exception. Since capturing his newborn photos, I've watched him grow into a sweet-natured, curious, and incredibly happy little boy. It's been an honor to photograph him and his family, especially since I've known his mom since elementary school.

For this session, we kept the style clean and classic, using white walls and light blue clothing to highlight baby boy's bright personality. Mommy also joined in for some shots, and the connection between them is absolutely precious. With his infectious smile and amazing blonde curls, this little guy was a joy to photograph.

One of the highlights of the session was undoubtedly the little boy's beautiful blonde curl. That amazing curl added an extra element of fun and character to the portraits, making them even more special. I always strive to create fine art portraits that capture the essence of my subjects, and in this case, that included highlighting this baby boy's gorgeous hair.

How to Prepare for Your Maternity Photo Session

CONGRATULATIONS! You are about to embark on the most beautiful journey!

Bringing a baby into the world is a wonderful life event that should be captured. It’s a time you are going to want to remember and share with your little one once they are a bit older. If you are thinking about or have recently booked a maternity photo session then the below tips should come in handy as your prepare for your session.

WHEN SHOULD I BOOK MY MATERNITY SESSION

I prefer to photograph all maternity sessions between 28 and 34 weeks, when your tummy will have “popped” and have a beautiful shape. By booking your maternity session during this time you are also past the discomfort and bloating that happens earlier in the pregnancy, but before the end of pregnancy when ankles and feet start to swell. I suggest contacting me around 15-20 weeks to book your session on our calendar as we typically book up about 1-2 months in advance.

PAMPER YOURSELF AND FEEL YOUR BEST

I always recommend professional hair and make-up for my mommy clients! Professional artist know how to make you look and feel your best for your portrait session and it takes the stress off of you having to do your hair and make-up by yourself. I have several preferred hair and make-up artists I am happy to recommend.

Treat yourself to a neutral or light colored manicure 1 – 2 days prior to your maternity session so that you can take some beautiful shots with your hands on your tummy. And we know how important it is to moisturize those knees, elbows and belly but we recommend you do so 1 – 2 hours before the session to avoid any shininess or sticky clothes.

PROP IDEAS

Most maternity photos are captured with few props as I aim to make the focus on connection, your belly, and your beauty of the moment. But, I am happy to incorporate a few small props into your session if you have certain ideas! Cute baby items such as shoes, onesies, or a baby book are popular items to include. The same applies to family heirlooms. If you have a special locket or photo that you would like to use, let me know so we can be sure to incorporate it into your portrait session.

More and more moms are using their ultrasound photos in their photo sessions. If you aren’t too sure whether you want to use it or not, bring it to the shoot anyway and decide on the day.

WHAT TO WEAR

Take the time to pick the right outfit for the maternity shoot. You should of course be comfortable but make sure that your clothing doesn’t detract from your tummy’s shape and your natural glow. I have a large collection of beautiful maternity gowns that are available to my clients. You are welcome to schedule a consultation to visit the studio and try on our wardrobe options!

Please avoid wearing any tight fitting watches or bracelets that might leave marks on your skin. Simple jewelry is best so it doesn’t distract from your natural beaty.

Avoid large, bold patterns or clothing that is too loose. Look for long maxi dresses that cover your legs but offer some flowy movement for a dreamy look in your photos. Empire waists, flowing tops and wrap dresses are perfect for enhancing your shape.

I CAN’T WAIT TO MEET YOU!

Are you ready to book your maternity session and document these beautiful moments and memories before baby arrives? Contact me to set up your appointment today!

4 Reasons to Get in The Photos With Your Newborn

Let’s face it. Post-partum bodies leave us feeling like a stranger when we look in the mirror (if you choose to look in the mirror, that is). Some things are bigger, some smaller, weight shifted to weird places, and bits hanging lower than ever before. And where exactly did all of that extra skin come from?

If we’re being honest. We are not feeling our cutest in the first two weeks after giving birth to a child.

And fun for you – that is the exact time frame the newborn photographer needs to photograph your new baby. It is SO easy to dismiss the idea of getting photos of yourself with your newborn, but I’m here to tell you to GET IN THE PHOTOS.

Hear me out on this one. I know you are sleep deprived, stressed out, dealing with post partum issues, clothes not fitting, learning about your baby and finding yourself as a new mom (or mom to multiples)….but I can promise you, taking those photos is WORTH IT.  You will look back on those photos and LOVE that moments that were captured.

Why You Should Get in The Photos

  1. It’s hard to take a selfie with you and your baby in it. A cell phone photo can’t capture the emotion you feel when you look at that precious child in your arms.

  2. Your baby will never be this size again. You’ll always want to remember how small they were in your arms. Mom brain makes you forget things like their flaky skin, tiny feet, and the way their tiny hands wrapped perfectly around your finger.

  3. Genealogy and heritage. Decades from now, your descendants will enjoy seeing photos of you and your family all together.

  4. Getting professional photos of yourself can make you look and feel amazing – there’s just something about getting your hair and makeup done that can really lift your spirits.

Yes, you will see things you don’t love about yourself, but there is no amount of money or time that will ever get you those priceless moments back. That’s why it's important to document it and preserve it. And if I’m the one photographing you and your family, my sole goal in the lifestyle portion of the session is to make you feel comfortable, beautiful, and show you in your best light.

iPhone Photography For Moms | Course Reviews

I’ve heard it said before that if it doesn’t scare you, it isn’t worth it. And if I’m being honest, creating a course from scratch and launching it out into the world was absolutely terrifying.

But I’m so glad I did. I’ve felt this calling to help make the lives of moms everywhere easier and this is another step towards that.

In this course, moms are learning how to:

  • Find great lighting in any situation

  • Compose a good photo

  • Get an authentic smiles from their kids

  • Get their partners to take photos of them (that they actually like)

  • Edit their photos easily (without using filters that wash them out)

  • And they even get free presets to apply to their images to take them from *yawn* to *wow*!

So the course was created and sent out into the world. But what did people really think about it?

Well, the verdict is in! Moms everywhere are loving the iPhone photography course where I teach moms how to take better photos of their kids!

Don’t believe me? Check out what these moms are saying…

“This course was great! I feel like all moms of littles should have this knowledge in their back pocket. I love how Taryn broke down the course enough to understand but was in depth enough to transform my photos. I now have a different way of approaching photography with my kids and can’t wait to use these techniques in the future.” – Ashley

“The course was easy to follow and I was able to watch at my own pace, between drop off and pick ups at 3 different schools! My favorite thing about the course was being able to go back and reference the techniques/talking points, as I’m a visual learner and seeing/hearing it more than once really sinks in for me.” - Andrea

“Taryn’s cell phone course is really great! As a mom of 4 kids and a photographer myself, I know it can be hard to take good pics of your kids. It covers everything you need to be able to understand how to take a great image. Highly recommend if you want to take your cell phone images up a level!” – Aly

Now it’s YOUR turn!

Including Your Family Pet in Your Family Photos in Houston, TX

For many people, pets are furry members of the family.  It comes as no surprise that they want to include their pets in their photos. Including your pets in your photo session does require a little extra preparation but it is something I always welcome and encourage!

Below are a few tips to prepare you for your photo session with your pet.

To capture the best looking photos, we will need to get your pet to sit still and behave. Pets can get very excited when new people are around so let your pet become acquainted with me and the new environment beforehand. Bring treats and toys that your pet enjoys so that you have something to use to grab their attention if necessary.

Keep a leash or harness ready, just in case. Even though your pet might be well trained, it never hurts to be prepared. You may also want to arrange your poses so you can hold onto your pet securely without it looking like you are hanging on for dear life. I will help you with posing so that the final image looks natural!

If you know that your photo session is going to take some time, give your pets the chance to take breaks, walk around and drink water. You won’t be able to force a pet to sit still if they are thirsty or agitated. It’s a great idea to bring an extra set of hands or helper to watch the pet for any photos we take that don’t include the pet.

As a pet owner you probably know how perceptive your animals are to energy and emotions, so it’s important that you are relaxed when you get to your pet photo session. If you really want to keep your pets relaxed too, try and arrange your photo session in a place where your pet will feel most comfortable such as your garden or a park.

For the best results, working with a photographer like myself, who loves animals and has previously worked with animals will make for an easy and enjoyable portrait session. I am an avid dog lover and always welcome any pet to join in your family portrait session!

Cell Phone Photography Course for Moms

“Your kids are only little for so long.”

We hear that a lot as parents, don’t we? And sure enough, the days are long, but the years pass by so quickly. The only way we really have to remember those little moments with our kiddos is when Facebook brings up those memories from years past. It’s a heart-warming feeling, isn’t it? Seeing their little hands and feet, snotty noses, and cranky faces too. We moms want to remember it all – because yes, it does pass more quickly than we realize.

It's said that we are the most documented time in history, i.e., we have more photos of our kids, pets, and daily lives than any other time before us. Technology is at our fingertips and so readily available. But how many of those photos do you actually like? How many of those photos ever leave the camera roll on your phone?

Maybe it’s because you don’t think your photos are good enough. Maybe it’s because you can’t get your phone to take pictures like what you’re actually seeing with your eyes. Maybe you just have sucumbed to the idea that you’re no good at taking photos.

Why I Love My Job as one of Houston's Best Newborn & Family Photographers

Have you ever wondered what spurs on a photographer’s passion? Below are just some of the many reasons why I love my job as a professional photographer and wouldn’t change their job for anything in the world!

  1. Photography changes how I see things. I notice colors, textures, flowers, trees, people, shapes and light every where and know how to document these things in a way most people never see them.

  2. I see so much beauty all around me. Even the most mundane object can become beautiful when I photograph it in a creative way. Many photographers love their job because they develop a fascination with the world around them by viewing it through new eyes.

  3. It's an amazing creative outlet. I get the chance to put a little bit of who my clients are into each photo that I take. Anyone can click a camera's buttons but not everyone can truly make a photo come to life and create a beautiful cherished memory.

  4. It's a challenge. Creating amazing photos that capture the magic of everyday life doesn’t come without hard work, dedication and imagination. There is always something new to explore and a new way to take the same photos. It’s a job that never gets boring!

  5. I get to meet new people all the time. As a photographer, I get to work with people from all walks of life. Getting to know someone new is a part of the process of bringing someone’s personality to life through in a photo. It also makes the job a lot more fun!

  6. The flexibility is great (most of the time). Being a full time photographer means I get to set and work my own hours. Finding balance as a business owner is something I always struggle with, because I lovvvvve what I do! But knowing I can set my own hours doesn’t mean I’m always successful as finding that healthy balance between work and life. This job as a photographer and business owner is definitely NOT a laid back profession. As your photographer, I am always aiming to perfect my craft, take on new challenges and strive to help my clients achieve the perfect portraits. I want every single client to ADORE their photos and cherish the memories we created for a lifetime. THIS is why I do what I do and would love to be YOUR new family photographer! Contact me today to chat!

When you decide to pay for a professional photo session, know that when you hire me, you are hiring an individual who is passionate about what they do and is willing to go the extra mile to help you create beautiful photos that you can treasure forever.

Lifestyle Newborn Portraits in the Pearland Studio

I love this family so much! I met Morgan in a study group at Texas A&M and we’ve been friends ever since (almost 20 years if you’re keeping track of my college graduation)! The good old days of college, with little responsibility except to show up to class, study, and make good grades…those were such gloriously easy days….now back to reality!

Morgan and I have kept in touch through facebook over the years and I was so excited for her when she announced her very first pregnancy after years of waiting and prayer. God is so good and faithful! When I first received her inquiry for newborn portraits for baby #1, I seriously did a happy dance! I was so thrilled for their family and for the chance to photograph her new baby girl! Well, fast forward 3 years and I’ve been blessed to photograph ALL 3 of their precious miracle babies’ newborn portraits. Meet Hayden, the caboose for this stunning family.

This session was done in my Pearland studio with a combination of both posed newborn photos and lifestyle family photos. I love my studio space because it allows me to offer both types of photos to clients giving them the most gorgeous newborn session galleries.

I would be honored to be your forever photographer and capture your most beautiful family moments. Contact me today to book your studio newborn session!

Cake Smash Birthday Photos in the Pearland Studio

What a gift it is to be able to celebrate your baby’s first birthday with family photos and a cake smash!

I encourage all parents to participate in their baby’s first birthday session. First, because it’s so important to be photographed WITH your baby! Get in those photos and make those memories! Second, your baby will be much more comfortable during the session if mommy and daddy are with them in the photos. Many times they have “stranger danger” around one year of age so they need a little reassurance from their parents to know this strange new lady with the camera in front of her face (ME) is a friend!

This session was scheduled in our Pearland studio because mom had an amazing theme in mind for her baby girl’s cake smash, and the best way to make it happy was in the studio! Outdoor sessions are always lovely, but sometimes the weather doesn’t cooperate OR creating a particular theme in an outdoor setting just isn’t possible. The studio gives me more control over the environment to be able to create an amazing birthday set up for you baby’s milestone moments!

Scroll down to see te Mermaid themed cake smash and how adorable this baby girl is!
